Finding Freedom at Freedom House

Jul 10, 2025

We find it in recovery, in healing, in community.

Two people praying together.

FREEDOM IS OUR HEARTBEAT

Last week, millions of us watched the night sky light up with fireworks, maybe attended a backyard cookout, and likely enjoyed a day off from work to celebrate one thing: freedom. So today, we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate freedom from a different lens: the kind found in recovery.

At Freedom House Recovery Center, freedom isn’t just our namesake—it’s our heartbeat. From meeting people where they are — whether they are in crisis or when they realize it’s time for something different — we come alongside people regardless of where they are on their journey. Our doors are never closed, and our answer is rarely no. All because we believe that through accessible treatment, a life in recovery is possible for all.

Every day, we witness the joy that comes from reclaiming lives once bound by addiction and mental health struggles. For the individuals who walk up our “sidewalk of hope” and through our open doors, freedom means waking up with hope, reconnecting with loved ones, and rediscovering purpose. All because of the generosity and support of our recovery community.

Watch how people have found freedom in recovery over the last fifty years.

THE POWER OF RECOVERY

Meeting people where they are has always been our mantra. Our mobile crisis team is trained to support adults and children and bridge them from crisis to continued care. Our facility-based crisis services provide low-barrier treatment options 24/7/365 for urgent and emergent substance misuse and mental health needs, and our outpatient clinics provide ongoing support for as long as we’re needed. These services are provided by licensed clinicians, mental health providers, and peer support specialists who strive to maintain a warm, judgment-free environment no matter what, no matter who, no matter when.

This week—and every week—you can help someone experience freedom in recovery. Whether you’re walking your own recovery journey, cheering on someone else on theirs, investing in accessible services, or advocating for a recovery-supportive community, you’re ensuring the freedom found in recovery is within reach for all who seek it.

Let’s celebrate the independence found in recovery: the freedom to heal, the freedom to hope, the freedom to live.
