OUR VISION REMAINS Charting The Course Toward Long-Term Recovery: One Step At A Time

As we step into 2026, our mission remains the same: to serve all in our community on their path to recovery – no matter who they are or what challenges they face.

Recovery does not happen all at once. It’s a journey that unfolds one step at a time. That’s why our staff is committed to walking alongside our clients every step of the way toward long-term recovery. It’s The Freedom House Way.

Whether someone is taking their first step toward recovery or continuing the progress they’ve already begun, our doors are open and our team remains committed to journey with them as they move toward a life that is happy, joyous, and free. Because recovery happens in community, and no one should have to walk the journey alone.

EXPANDING RECOVERY HOUSING Making A Home For Healing A Reality

A safe and supportive environment can make all the difference in the recovery journey. Our recovery homes provide individuals with the stability, structure, and community they need to build a strong foundation for long-term recovery.

New Durham Women’s Recovery Home Now Open!

We are excited to share that our second Women’s Recovery Home in Durham — Elmwood House — is now open and accepting clients. This second house enables Freedom House to increase its bed count for women in Durham to twelve. Recovery Housing provides a stable and supportive transition between treatment and lifelong recovery. In residential treatment, women can focus on recovery while continuing outpatient treatment, community engagement, and job readiness skill building.

Residents receive access to structured support, community connection, and resources that help them rebuild stability and independence.

Person County Men’s Recovery Home Opening Soon!

Our Person County Men’s Recovery Home is another exciting step forward in expanding access to recovery housing in our community.

This nine-bed men’s house will be the first residential recovery home in Person County. Residential treatment provides men with a supportive environment that helps them establish routines, build community, and stay focused on their recovery journey.

We are completing the finishing touches on construction with hopes of welcoming our first residents this summer. Stay tuned on our social media and future newsletters for our grand opening and when we’ll be accepting referrals!
